Our wrap up of season 6 from the secret bunker studio yielded quite a bit of fun. We got to discuss some anger issues with Joey and Data (I think I am going to start bringing a bodyguard with me to podcast recordings, just for protection against... certain people. I think Aaron might do nicely as a human shield). And we got to discuss the really good and bad stuff from season 6. This podcast covers episodes 25-26 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 6.
Various topics discussed in this podcast include:
I Fight Dragons concert tour
John Sundman author link
Sitting through bad presentations
Squatter's Rights
If you are emotionless, you are incorruptible
Joey talks about his feelings
JC Hutchins 7th Son Novel

Gentlemen, first off, let me thank your for the last two wonderful weeks. Listening to your podcasts for eight hours a day allows to retain my sanity at work. A place where I am surround by women who's idea of a good book or movie is Stephanie Meyer's Vampire books. I feel so very fortunate to have found your podcast so that I can listen to you and your guests instead. Also it is a complete joy to revisit Star Trek: The Next Generation, the series that turned me into a sci-fi fan and helped create many lasting friendships, as well as made junior high and high school a little more bearable.
In this podcast, Peter, I believed mentioned a woman who had herself commited to an insane asylum and then wrote about her experiences. You wanted to know if any listener out there knew who this woman was, and I believe I know.
Nellie Bly, the pen name of Elizabeth Jane Cochran, in 1887 while working for the New York World newspaper had herself committed to the Women's Lunatic Asylum on Blackwell's Island for ten days. Her report on the treatment and conditions at Blackwell's Island was later published as a book entitled Ten Days in a Mad-House. The following is the Wikipedia link to the entry on Nellie Bly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nellie_Bly
Hope this is the woman you were thinking of and that this infomation proves useful.
Listener Libby
Listener Libby, you are correct about the woman Nellie Bly. The interesting thing is that we will be seeing her again when we talk about The West Wing. I was actually hoping to throw it in Joey's face, when we got there, and accuse him of not being a real WW fan. Good detective work. Thanks for the kind comments.
Wikipedia indicates that it's a line delivered by Abbey Bartlet - I'll be honest, I have a hard time listening when Stockard Channing is talking.
First of all, thanks for the show guys, I enjoy it thoroughly.
I have a different perspective on war in the Star Trek universe. I believe that we come together as humans to face a threat. Currently, that threat is other nations. If some outside entity threatened us, I believe we would ultimately unite together as one world against that threat. Just as the federation unites against other races / entities. There is definitely war in TNG, just not amongst the Federation. One example of this is 9/11, New Yorkers are generally considered to be uncooperative from what I understand, however, during 9/11 they unite against an outside threat. I believe this is simply human nature.
Also, I just wanted to point out that there is a Star Trek MMO which is scheduled to come out Feb 2010.
