Listening to the analysis of Bartlett asks, "When did we lose Texas" and CJ says, "About the time you learned Latin?"
Here's what it really means - The President shuffles aside the criticism of his joke, because it wasn't his joke that lost them Texas. Texas was lost long before he was ever a candidate because Democrat policies are vehemently rejected (Democrats don't win in Texas, no matter the level of sense of humor). Hence, about the same time "[he] learned Latin".
And yes, Latin is a dead language. Tell AoD he can go to Oxford or Yale if he wants to learn it. Or buy Rosetta stone.
And Tolliver reappears again as the Chief of Police in the AWESOME mystery series, Castle, on ABC.
Changing Physicians (Tolliver): "I serve at the Pleasure of the President". Changes happen all the time. The culture and precedent is that there's no crying in baseball.
