Trek West 5: Calling all comments

Trek West 5 is usually about 2 weeks ahead of their listeners. By that I mean, we record a podcast on a Friday but it is about a week and a half before we get around to editing it and posting it up. We would like to have more interaction with our listeners who have actually watched the episodes before and want to be a part of the conversation.

So having said that; We are going to be discussing episodes 1-4 of season 3 of Star Trek the Next Generation this Friday. If you have seen these episodes before and have a question or topic you would like us to discuss, please comment to this post or send an email to trekwest5@thehomestarmy.com. We would love to be able to talk about what is on your minds.

Podcast 10: A Decade of Discussion

Well, technically we have only been doing this for a couple of months, but the lack of sleep we have been going through and the length of these podcasts lately, makes it kind of feel like ten years. As we hope the trend will continue this podcast has been reduced in time to a slightly more manageable amount. We do have one thing we need your help on though. We have started doing shorter summaries for each episode. This podcast utilizes the shorter variety. Please let us know which you prefer in the comments.

This podcast covers episodes 16-19 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 2. Our "Special" guest for this podcast is Brandon.

Various topics discussed in this podcast include:
Q is back: good guy or bad guy?
    Bring in the Borg
    Joey's idea of fashion
    wit != intelligence
Heterocyclic Declination: Just as good as the JOS

Podcast 9: Daddy Issues

Alright, well we know that podcast 8 was a lot to try and chew on. Podcast 9 is only about 2 hours this time!! And podcast 10 is shaping up to be even less than that. Lots of fun was had in this podcast, especially our conversation about the episode The Royale - truly one of the dumbest episodes ever. We also would like to introduce the brand new Trek West 5 wiki. Anyone who is interested in helping us document this wiki, is very much appreciated. Because it is very sparse at the moment.

This podcast covers episodes 11-15 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 2. Our "Special" guest for this podcast is Aaron.

Various topics discussed in this podcast include:
    Product testing

Podcast 8: Loooong on fun - and subsequently, time

It would seem that our podcasts are getting longer and longer each week. We aren't quite certain that we have come up with a solution for that yet. One idea is to discuss fewer episodes (we shall be trying that for podcasts 10 and 11 to end season 2). Another idea was to allow you the listener to download each episode we discuss as mini podcasts. So this week we have uploaded the full podcast (approximately the same length as Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition) as well as the discussion for each individual episode. You can click on the link to each episode below with our ratings (we have also included the length of each one). Please give us your comments/ideas on this.

This podcast covers episodes 6-10 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 2. Our "Special" guest for this podcast is Johnny Elbows. He joins us for our discussion of the episode The Measure of a Man. This ends up being a very lengthy discussion of a lot of philosophical issues. We also introduce a new podcast segment, entitled: Stump Jared. Current score is TW5 1, Jared 0. It was extremely fun for AoD and I, so our thanks to Johnny Elbows.

Various topics discussed in this podcast include:
Joey doesn't think women are people - on Valentines Day
    The liberal media strikes again
    Transporters save the day
    Klingons
Joey looks past his disdain for a hamburger
New segment: Stump Jared - and yes, Jared was stumped
    Playing the Whoopie Goldberg card
    Anthropomorphizing things
    Positronic brains run on...positricity??
    Why create a robot
New TW5 policy - All emotion is due to fight or flight responses
    Emotional responses vs. logical conclusions
    Defining life and sentience
    Prosecuting a friend
    New Segment: Listener Email
    Correct pronunciation of Dauphin
    Encephalitis = bad

Podcast 7: Season 2 TNG - It's still Monday...somewhere!

Both AoD and I wanted to make sure and release the podcast on a regular weekly basis. Due to circumstances involving the laziness of AoD, it took us a little longer for us to put this together. But the good news is that we were able to muster our forces and manage to get this posted on Monday. We also had to use a different microphone because AoD reminded me too early to grab the office mic. Hopefully you won't be too displeased. I shan't forget the proper mic again.

This podcast covers episodes 1-5 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 2. Our "Special" guest for this podcast is none of your darn business. Due to the length of this podcast, we may begin only covering 4 episodes per podcast. But we'll keep you posted.

Various topics discussed in this podcast include:
Troi is too much woman for Joey
Joey & Peter continue to not understand women
    Selfishness

Podcast 6: The End of the Beginning

We have come to the end of the first season of Star Trek the Next Generation. Thankfully our painful and awkward episode watching is over and we can move on to better writing and acting in season 2. Because this is the end of season 1 we decided to do a few lists and recaps to point out some of the highlights. Although these highlights extended the length of the podcast beyond our standard target, we think there's some really fun stuff that justifies the extra length.
